The BMW S1000RR is a super bike manufactured by BMW Motorrad to compete in the 2009 Superbike World Championship.[2] It was introduced in Munich on 16 April 2008, and is powered by a 999 cc (61.0 cu in) inline-4 engine redlined at 14,200 rpm.

Making 193bhp and 83lb/ft of torque, the 2010 BMW S1000RR is the most powerful 1000cc production bike on the market. More importantly, weighing 183kg dry and 204kg fully fueled, it also has the best power-to-weight ratio. Troy Corser just took the wraps off the production BMW S1000RR in Monza, the bike will go on sale in most markets, including the US, in January. “We are confident that we will be able to start the Superbike World Championship next year with a convincing all-round package, and that our series motorcycle will be just as convincing,” said Hendrik von Kuenheim, a 20-year veteran of BMW and now the General Director of BMW’s motorcycle division. “In both terms of both its technology and price, our Supersports will be absolutely competitive.”

Ducati Multistrada burst on to the motorcycling scene and in some ways redefined versatility and performance, and offered a true alternative to traditional, focused motorcycles. For once there was a bike that could genuinely have the title of being an all-round motorcycle, capable of tackling mild off-road terrain and being a reasonably competent track machine, despite being predominately a road bike.

The Multistrada was designed for (and on) the legendary ‘Futa Pass’ that sits not too far from the Bologna factory. A twisty mountain road that has straights punctuated by all sort of corners from fast open sweeping bends to tight hairpin like turns. It is a favorite haunt of all the local riders on sports bikes. The Mutistrada was designed with this road firmly in mind. Basically, the bike is a combination of two completely different types of motorcycles, the “big dual sport” and pure sport bikes. It incorporates the key characteristics of both, the comfort and versatility of the dual sports, plus the precise handling and engine power of the traditional race-styled sport bike.

Powering the bike is the 1000 DS engine, the most advanced, most powerful Ducati air-cooled engine ever. The Sport1000 takes its inspiration from the tangerine yellow 1973 Ducati 750 Sport and has the look of a classic lightweight single-seat cafe racer. The publicity says "tangerine yellow", but the original colour went by the name "gallo fly". It uses a two valve 1000DS motor with twin stacked exhaust pipes on the right hand side in a 1,425 mm (56.1 in) wheelbase, trellis tube frame. Suspension is a fully-adjustable single Sachs rear shock on the left hand side and non-adjustable 43 mm Marzocchi front forks.
